What are the InsaneJournal-specific tags?

There are 4 InsaneJournal-specific markup tags. They can be used in journal entries, comments, and the Bio section of the User Info page [https://www.insanejournal.com/editinfo.bml]. Further details on each tag are described below.

( Read More )
<lj user="username">

Replace username with the actual username of any InsaneJournal user, asylum, or syndicated account. This appears as a bold hyperlink to the journal. Beside the link is an icon that contains a link to the profile of the account to which you are linking.

<lj-cut> ... </lj-cut>

The cut tag can be used in a journal entry to hide part, or all, of an entry. When the entry appears in your journal or on someone's friends page, everything after an <lj-cut> tag and before a closing </lj-cut> tag will be replaced by a link to the Read Comments page. The Read Comments page always displays the entire entry as well as any comments made on it. When the <lj-cut> is closed with </lj-cut>, any text placed after the closing </lj-cut> tag will normally display on the journal, instead of just on the Read Comments page.

By default, the hyperlink will say "Read more...", but if you want it to say something else like "Open here", you can type the tag as <lj-cut text="Open here">.

<lj-poll> ... </lj-poll>

Only Early Inmate, Self-committed [paid] and Permanently Insane account holders can use this tag to include a poll in a journal entry. Further information on polls can be found at [https://www.insanejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=41].

<lj-raw> ... </lj-raw>

This disables the auto-insertion of line breaks on sections of your entry. This provides the same functionality as the "Don't auto-format" checkbox while updating, but can be used to only stop auto-formatting on a particular section of your entry. Further information on the "Don't auto-format" option can be found at [https://www.insanejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=50].

In addition, there are 3 InsaneJournal-specific URL forms that will only work when posted in a journal held on the InsaneJournal servers:

<a href="lj://user/username/">Username</a> will make a link to username's journal.

<a href="lj://support/200">Support Request #200</a> will make a link to the 200th InsaneJournal support request.

<a href="lj://faq/12">FAQ #12</a> will take you to InsaneJournal FAQ #12.
