"Glass Vase Cello Case" - Tattle Tale |

"Deliver me from writers who say the way they live doesn't matter. I'm not sure a bad person can write a good book. If art doesn't make us better, then what on Earth is it for." -Alice Walker
What, indeed. I've often wondered what it cost Michaelangelo to paint the Sistine Chapel or da Vinci the Mona Lisa. What price did Donatello pay for every piece of stone he chipped away from those shallow reliefs of his. Something has to go into the art to make it beautiful and if the old adage that beauty is pain then what agony did the artists of the Renaissance suffer? What do the artists of today suffer?
I wonder, that's all. Because I don't believe that the saying applies only to women in corsets and six-inch high heels. Something has to be taken or given or exchanged, pieces of the artist go missing, perhaps, when they create something new and beautiful.
Of course, I've just been told my ponderings are too morose, so perhaps I should simply comment upon the weather and be done with it.

"Cold" - Matchbox Twenty |
] |
I have watched, for the one-hundred thirty seventh time, Cinderella. Take that as you will, but I am very, very tired of having "So This Is Love" playing through the house. One would think that after over fifty years at the age of one-hundred eighty-five twenty, my mate partner would have outgrown his fascination with the animated dresses, the prince - everything. I seem to lack the luck necessary for that to have happened, though.
This seems a strange thing to write about. I suppose I could say something about the rebuilding process, the progress that has been made in Mathwell, but I haven't seen it, I haven't borne witness to it. I didn't survive it and I have no right to speak of it as any sort of authority on anything. I suppose I will simply offer my best wishes - and my condolences - to those who want them.

"Amor, ch'al cor gentil ratto s'apprende..."
( Written in Italian )
Absolve, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the souls of Thy servants, from every bond of sin, that being raised in the glory of the resurrection, they may be refreshed among the Saints and Elect. Through Christ our Lord.
