I know that the weekend's pretty much half over, but I'm staying at my parents' to watch the animals today and then I'm going to visit my brother in Eugene, so Ii'm going to be even more scarce that I typically am on weekends (damn my working nights).

I woke up tday feeling kind of crappy, but two things I've read about the election today have made me pretty darn close to cheery.
1) I'm SO HAPPY that the Obamas have said they're going to be adopting the dog they'll bring with them to the White House. It also makes me kind of sad because I can't go to my own local (no kill!) shelter and take home all of the kitties and a puppy of my very own, but still- A+ to the Obamas.
2) My state now has two democratic senators. This is a big deal to me because while the metro areas of Portland and Salem are very progressive ("blue") areas, the rest of the state is very very conservative. Yesterday afternoon, our incumbant republican senator was leading with a slight majority and the only ballots that had to be counted were small cities and towns in eastern Oregon where it was almost certain that would vote for Smith.
My joy isn't due to the fact that a republican was beaten by a democrat or anything pertaining to the conservatism of the eastern half of my state. It's because Gordon Smith is a bigot and I do not agree with him representing my state.
So while I might not feel so great physically, at least I have these two things to be happy about.
