 welcome to pine creek.
pine creek is a fictional town somewhere in the united states. it is your average all-american town where the people are friendly and families are tight-knit. pine creek houses an array of both family-owned and chain stores as well as many restaurants, two movie theaters (a regular one and a drive-in during hot summers), a public library, the local lake where people swim, as well as other attractions to keep the townspeople busy during their off-time. the local high school's football team is one of the star attractions and everyone sits in those bleachers to watch their boys win another game. in pine creek, everyone knows of one another and everyone knows each others' business. once claimed to be the ideal place for anyone to live, pine creek has kept that promise. people of every race, social standing, sexual orientation, religion, every demograph has settled into pine creek without trouble. besides the football games and small-town life, they have a county fair to look forward to as well as many dances, talent contests, parties, the occassional concert or star-sighting, and the drama that small-town life brings everyone.
pine creek was discovered in 1780 by john c. hughes who was exploring new lands with his party. what they came upon was a land full of pine trees that was surrounded by several creeks, hence the name pine creek. when the men discovered that a freshwater lake was on the outskirts of the new town, they dubbed it "lake hughes" naming it for their fearless leader. because it was only four years after america had won the war against great britain, pine creek soon became a place for men to take their families and build homes. while the world changed, pine creek mostly stayed the same: it was a safe place for people to come and live. during the great depression, many of pine creek's residents used their farming skills to stay financially secure. the usage of their crops got them noticed by a famous paper and a story was written about the farmers that saved the town of pine creek from ruin. during both world wars, pine creek lost many men and boys. up until the late 1950s photographs of fallen soldiers still hung from store windows, saluting their patriotism. when the vietnam war came around, there was a large protest outside of pine creek high school where 50 students marched protesting against the injustice that was the war. as for any incidents, there has only been a handful of recorded homicides in pine creek, the last being in 1982. the pine creek huskies won the state championship once in 1976 and that was a proud year for the small-town, something that none of them have forgotten. many call pine creek a town that stays exactly the same, and in some ways that is perfectly true, but they have also changed with the times. that's probably a reason why most families stay in pine creek for several generations: because they miss the closeness of what america's family once was.
