12:55 am - Joining DDC
|
How to Join Deities Dot Com: 1. READ and agree to the Deities Rules. 2. RESEARCH the mythology behind your deity thoroughly 3. CREATE a personality to fit your deity, factoring in the history behind your character from their mythological origins up to modern day times. Carefully choose a face to represent your deity. (PBs must be appropriate to the pantheon. (No bleach blonds for Sumerians, no swarthy skinned Norse, etc. Traditionally in this game, Egyptians have been played as dark skinned.)) 4. EMAIL deities@gmail.com with your application.

12:55 am - Deities Dot Com Rules
|
Journal Rules Deities Dot Com is mythology based. As such, characters should be drawn from a reliable source such as Theoi, not Hercules or Xena. Original characters and non-deities are not permitted in DDC. Deities Dot Com has no affiliate communities outside of History Dot Com and Pantheon Dot Com. All role play should be kept within DDC or HDC only. PDC should be used for OOC purposes only. Character journals should be used for posting to these communities only and should not include separate role play. An established player may have up to five character journals at one time, with no more than four character journals for any one pantheon (Greek, Egyptian, Sumerian, etc). Players active for less than 6 months may have up to two character journals. Extremely consistent, active players may apply for two more characters above the five-character limit. The four-character limit per pantheon remains in effect. Duplicating the face chosen for another character is not allowed. Once the PB for a character has been chosen, it cannot be changed.
Role Play Rules Every character must have activity at least once a month. Activity includes posting an entry in DDC/HDC or commenting in DDC/HDC. After one month of inactivity, a notification e-mail will be sent advising that activity will be required within five days of the notice in order to maintain the character in DDC. If no activity is seen within five days, the character will be free for adoption. Place a disclaimer on any post containing extremely graphic sexual/violent content. Posts without this disclaimer will be deleted after 24 hours. Before initiating a plot that will significantly affect the community as a whole, a player must obtain permission from the moderators. Any action that affects a character you do not control (or the property of a character you do not control) must be cleared with the player first. While within a god's domain (temple, home, et cetera), power struggles default to that god. Posts that are in violation of this rule will be deleted at the affected player's request. Tag your DDC/HDC entries in the subject line.
Moderator Guidelines Requests for moderator assistance should be e-mailed directly to deities (at) gmail (dot) com and will be answered promptly. Moderators reserve the right to update the rules if necessary. Any updates to the content of these rules will be made available for discussion for 7 days in PDC. After discussion, the moderators will make their final decision. By participating in this community, a player agrees to abide by the rules of it. Failure to do so will result in a warning. Continued failure may result in a permanent ban on all characters held by that player. Moderators reserve the right to make reasonable exceptions to the above-listed rules, if circumstances warrant it.

12:53 am - Application

OOC Player's Name: AIM / YIM: (A chat program is essential for RP Logs and contacting fellow players. AIM is preferred. Get it here.) Time Zone: OOC Journal: (This is not your personal journal - though you can list it if you want - but rather the journal you use for character and roleplay related posting. It is optional, but highly recommended.)
IC
Character Name: (The name of your character according to myth.) Pantheon: (What pantheon do they come from? Greek, Egyptian, etc.) Parentage: (Some gods/goddesses have multiple possible parentage - so list their mother & father here!) Patronage: (What are they the god/goddess of?) Residence: (They can reside in the mortal world, or in their traditional home - the Underworld, on Olympus, etc., or both. Just tell us.) Personality: (Personality should include strengths and weaknesses - remember, gods served as morality tales, so try and make sure you include the flaws of their personality as well. Three paragraphs or more.) History: (Including their mythological origins and what they've been doing in modern times. Three paragraphs or more.) Miscellaneous: (If different sources for mythology have conflicting information about important details – such as parentage, for example – you may want to clarify here. If you are taking over a previously-played character, please be aware that there will be some history involved with your character. Mods will be happy to assist, if needed. Also include special abilities not covered by their patronage. Ex. - Zeus' thunderbolt.) Plot: (Optional. If you have any plot ideas for your character going in, or have character interactions in mind, list them here!) Writing Sample: (At least four paragraphs in third person form. Current players applying for another character may omit this step.) Played-By: (Avoid duplication by visiting the current list here.) HQ Picture: (We need a good, high quality picture for your character's icon on the icon wall, so give us your favorite here!)
We also have the application pre-coded for those of you who are interested.

3:04 pm - Subject Line Tagging
|
A Subject Line Tag is a brief note in parentheses or brackets that allows other players to know if the post is directed toward them or if it is open for any character to respond. If you feel the role play should include your character in the thread, just contact the original poster to join.
Example Subject Lines with appropriate Tags: A Drunken Debacle [Open to Dionysos/anyone at his temple] Visiting The Queen (For Hera) An Arrival [Open To Anyone on Olympus]
