Summary:javascript error when using rich text
Original Request:
When I use the rich text function to put a hyperlink into a post, all I get are things like "javascript:void(0);/*1222037147539*/" instead of the URL. I'm using the latest version of firefox.

Also, when I do click "submit," the window wont' close, just minimizes.
Diagnostics: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008070208 Firefox/2.0.0.16 ljt_ignoreme:*

Currently I use Firefox 3.0.1 and was successfully able to put a link into the Rich Text Format.

Can you tell us what version you are using and have you cleared cookies and cache and any personal information from your browser?

Thanks!

I'm using Firefox 3.0.1. I did clear my cache and rebooted my computer. I prefer not to delete the very few cookies I have, as I'm VERY selective about accepting cookies, and the only ones I have are to keep me logged into specific reliable sites (Amazon, IJ, Facebook, TypePad, and sites for the companies I work for). Deleting them would be extremely inconvenient for me, and I don't see any reason why those cookies would be a problem here. Is there something specific you're thinking of?

In case it helps, here is a step-by-step of what happens:

I highlight the text I want to make into a link.

I click on the little chain icon.

I leave it set for http protocol, and put the rest of the URL into the URL field.

I click "OK."

This is where it all goes wrong. The window does not close. The "URL" entered into my post is javascript:void(0);/*1222053775557*/ instead of the URL I typed in.

When I hit "okay," the window doesn't close. When I hit "enter" on my keyboard, the window doesn't close. But both those actions do enter the javascript void stuff into the post.

Any other thoughts?

THANKS SO MUCH!

I see what you mean now and I apologize I didn't pull up the coding earlier.

I just recovered my entry from a draft and saw this.

<a href="javascript:void(0);/*1222050866630*/">ddd</a>

I have passed this information along to the site owner.

Thank you for your patience.

I do apologize for the delay.

Can you tell me if you are still experiencing this issue?

I have tried it after the server move and it appears that it has been fixed.

Thanks so much!

Sadly, I'm still having the exact same problem, even after the server move. :(

This has been added to a list of known issues to be fixed when there is time.
