Summary:Not receiving join request emails for asylum
Original Request:
Hello. I am one of two moderators of the community <lj user=undertherainbow>. I was, up until recently, receiving join requests by email. I have not been receiving them for a few weeks now. I checked my settings, and it is still selected to email them to me. My co-moderator is still receiving them by email as normal.

I'm guessing that this is just one of the bugs that you're already working out. I'm not sure why my co-mod is getting them and I'm not. She is the one that created the community, so that might be making the difference.

Anyway, it isn't causing severe problems or anything; my co-mod can approve requests, and I know how to do it from the 'manage asylums' page. But if there's a fix, I'd really appreciate it. And if it's a bug associated with the other problems, I figure it may help to report it, in case you don't already know about it.

Thanks for your time! You guys do a great job, and it's really appreciated!

We apologize for the delay.

Are you still experiencing this issue?

It's no problem, re: the delay. I know you guys are busy.

Yes, I am still experiencing the problem. No changes to my original request. I'd really appreciate any help you can give me!

I apologize again for the delay, as we have been pretty swamped. Are you still encountering this issue? If so, have you done anything recently with your account like use a rename token or anything of the sort?

Yes, I'm still having the same problem. I haven't renamed my account, or the asylum. I didn't make any changes prior to this happening. It started happening about the same time several other 'bugs' came up, (like not receiving comment notifs for a few days) so I thought it might have been associated with those, but it seems like those have been fixed now.

But yes. Still experiencing the same problem. Any help you can give would be appreciated. Thanks.

As a standard step in troubleshooting, can you please check your spam filters to see if InsaneJournal emails about asylums are being filtered in any way? Thank you for your patience as the support team continues to investigate.

I checked the spam filters as well as my spam folder, and IJ emails aren't being filtered. I have gmail, if this helps.

Hi. I was looking into this problem further, and discovered a few things I thought would be useful.

I found out that my join requests for my other community are, in fact, still coming through. Just not the ones for undertherainbow.

My settings look like they should. I have it checked to email me when people send join requests. (I took a screenshot.) I'm not sure what exactly is going on, as I am still listed as a moderator for the community. My comod created it and is listed as the primary email, but I was previously getting join requests, up until March 08. I have tried listing myself as the email on the community, but even in doing that, I still do not receive join requests.

We apologize for taking so long to get back to you.

Are you able to make the screen shot bigger?

The one you provided is very small.

I apologize for the size of the screenshot. Photobucket must have shrank it. I wish I'd realized that before. http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/4222/settingsscreenshothd6.jpg That is bigger. Please notice in particular the email settings, and how it is set to receive an email every time someone requests to join. (but I am still not getting them)

Also, you can see the different communities I am in. Fortevoce is still sending me email requests, but not the undertherainbow, utr_ooc or utr_logs communities.

As a recap, my co-moderator created the community and is listed as the primary email on the profile. However, even when I changed myself to the primary email, I did not receive join requests.

I was getting join requests up until March 08. About this time there were some bugs that were fixed, one of which involving comment notifications. Comments came back, but my join requests never did.

I have checked my spam filters multiple times. Nothing from IJ is blocked (and again, I'm getting comment notifs and join requests from other communities, so it's not my spam content.)

Let me know if this is even something that should be handled in this manner. I'm starting to think, since it's taken 5 months, maybe I'm in the wrong place. I can take it to squeaky if this isn't something you guys can help with. Troubleshooting doesn't seem to be helping; I'm thinking it's some bug in the code or something.

During this time, did you change emails for the asylum?

We've noticed that some are receiving emails at an old email address instead of being send to the new one.

No, I didn't make changes to my email. I've always used this email. I didn't make any changes to my account or anything before this started happening.

My co-mod is listed as the primary email for the community, and she still is receiving emails. I thought maybe that was part of it, but prior to March 08, we were BOTH receiving join requests. Something must have changed, and it wasn't on our end.

Trying to list my email as the primary on the community has not helped as I still do not receive join requests. Maybe that's what you meant about new versus old emails, but what I'd REALLY like to see happen is BOTH of us get the join requests, since we are both listed as moderators/maintainers.

We apologize for the delay.

Have you tried having the other mod remove you and then add you back again to see if that helps you?
