What is the memory feature? How do I create memories?

The memory feature on InsaneJournal allows you to mark your favourite entries from InsaneJournal in an easy-to-use keyword archival system.

The easiest way to set memories for your own account is when your message boards are enabled. On each comment page is a small toolbar set in blue that offers a variety of buttons, one of which is a small red heart. Clicking on this button will take you to the "Add to Memories" page, where you can give the memory a descriptive name and associate with it up to five keywords.

If you do not have your message boards enabled, and don't want to enable them, you will have to use your Calendar view. This is located at http://www.insanejournal.com/users/exampleusername/calendar/ , replacing "exampleusername" with your username. On this page, you should see several links labelled "subjects", which will take you to a page where your journal is filtered by month. Following the links provided will take you to the "Read Comments" page of the entry specified by that date and time. (If you have not enabled your message boards, people will still not be able to comment on your entries, even if they visit this page.) Finding the red heart button, as pointed out above, will take you to the "Add to Memories" page.

Remember that you are not limited to just the posts that you make on InsaneJournal; you can also define posts written by other users as memorable, by following the same methods given above.

Memories also come with 3 separate security levels, similar to your journal entries. "Public" specified memories will allow everyone to see your memories, "Friends" specified memories will allow only the users named on your friends list to see that memory, and "Private" specified memories only allows yourself to see your memory, provided that you are logged in. The security feature of memories is different than the security feature of entries. If you mark a Friends-Only post a Public memory, people who are not authorized to read that post will still not be able to read it.

To add memories to a asylum you maintain, firstly, go to the entry you wish to add as a memory. Choose the asylum journal from the "Work as user" drop-down menu option and click "switch". From here, you can add/edit/delete memories using the above instructions.
