How do I make a custom mood theme?

InsaneJournal's Official Asylum for mood themes can be found at [http://moodthemes.insanejournal.com/].

Early Inmate, Self-committed [paid] and Permanently Insane account holders have the ability to create and edit their own custom moodthemes. InsaneJournal is currently not in need of any new moodthemes, but if you would still like to submit one for public use, please visit the Official Asylum mentioned above.

First, all the images that will be used in the mood theme must be uploaded to a webspace provider that allows remote loading [http://www.insanejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=47]. One mood image can be used for multiple moods, so there's no need to create 133 images for every single mood. It is recommended that you save the image filenames to correspond to their primary moods (for example: happy.gif). It is also encouraged to use transparent backgrounds for the images, so that they can be used on a variety of different backgrounds.

There are currently two methods for creating custom mood themes. The Custom Mood Theme Editor [http://www.insanejournal.com/manage/moodthemes.bml] is the newer method, which allows users to directly assign images to every mood.

The second method is by using the Admin Console [http://www.insanejournal.com/admin/console/].

Please note that you cannot delete a custom mood theme that has been created by using the Admin Console. Only the Custom Mood Theme Editor will allow you to delete your custom mood theme. Instructions for creating a moodtheme using the Admin Console can be found at [http://www.insanejournal.com/doc/html/moodicons.bml].

When you have finished creating your mood theme, you can view it at [http://www.insanejournal.com/moodlist.bml?moodtheme=THEMEID&ownerid=OWNERID], replacing THEMEID with your mood theme ID number and OWNERID with your user ID number. Your user ID number can be found on your userinfo page [http://www.insanejournal.com/userinfo.bml], right beside your username.
