How are the account types different from each other?
InsaneJournal offers four different account types, which can be found at the bottom of one's user information page. These account types (Free Patient, Early Inmate, Self-committed [paid], and Permanently Insane) offer a variety of different features and benefits.
All journals, regardless of account type, have the same basic functionality (such as posting journal entries and comments) as long as the e-mail address associated with that account has been validated. Most of InsaneJournal's features are listed at [http://www.insanejournal.com/site/], and features exclusive only to upgraded members are indicated.
Free Patient accounts are available to all new users. With this, they can:
-- Upload up to 100 icons. -- Add up to 1000 journals on their friends-list.
Early Inmate accounts were offered to those who registered before October 27, 2003. This account type is no longer available to new users. With this, they can:
-- Upload up to 150 icons. -- Add up to 1000 journals on their friends-list. -- Create and edit custom S1 styles to fully customize their journal. -- Create polls. -- Create custom mood themes.
Self-committed users are offered many additional benefits, including exclusive features not available to Early Inmate and Free Patient accounts. Some of these benefits include extra additions made to their account such as Insane Userpics. Further details are provided at the following page [http://www.insanejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=10].
Additionally, Permanently Insane accounts are occasionally available for sale. These accounts are an enhanced version of the Self-committed account, and without a set expiration date. Please watch the announcements asylum [http://asylums.insanejournal.com/announcements/] for information on when they are available for purchase.
