How do I check my InsaneJournal e-mail?

As an added benefit for our "Self-committed" [paid] and Permanently Insane account holders, InsaneJournal offers a neat e-mail alias system. When you have a Self-committed or Permanently Insane account, people can send mail to your @insanejournal.com e-mail address, which is in the form of exampleusername@insanejournal.com , where "exampleusername" should be replaced with your username.

Any mail sent to your exampleusername@insanejournal.com address will be forwarded to whatever e-mail address you have listed on your Edit Personal Information page (http://www.insanejournal.com/editinfo.bml). There is no added mailbox to check, no POP3 server to connect to, and no extra hassle of setting up another e-mail account.

As an added security measure, you can select the level of visibilty of your e-mail addresses, as seen on your User Info page (http://www.insanejournal.com/userinfo.bml). On the Edit Personal Information page (http://www.insanejournal.com/editinfo.bml), look for the option labeled "Show your contact information on your InsaneJournal?", and choose the privacy settings that suit you best.

If wanted, you can completely disable your @insanejournal.com e-mail alias by logging in (http://www.insanejournal.com/login.bml), going to the Admin Console (http://www.insanejournal.com/admin/console/), and executing the following command:

set no_mail_alias 1

You can re-enable your @insanejournal.com e-mail alias by executing the following command:

set no_mail_alias 0
