InsaneJournal

About InsaneJournal

  • InsaneJournal is a simple yet very customizable online diary. It is built on open source software from Danga Interactive.
  • InsaneJournal allows you to keep in touch with all of your friends. You can create public accounts, called asylums, that allow many people to post about a common subject.
  • Joining InsaneJournal is absolutely free, but highly privileged with an upgraded account.
  • The InsaneJournal community is very tight-knit and very accepting of all people, it doesn't matter what you look like, what you listen to, or how old you are
  • At InsaneJournal we believe in freedom of expression. We will not censor content unless it obviously violates United States law and we receive an offical takedown notice. We do not self-police the site.
  • Yes we are fanfic friendly. We believe works of fiction are just that. And unless such work infringes on a copyright that does not fall under "fair use" we believe you have the right to post that content.

squeaky:  Mon 06-29-2009 15:54: Post by email fixed
For those of you with paid or permanent accounts we have finally fixed the post by email feature. We found the problem during the move and made the corrections to the code that runs it.

If you have a paid or permanently insane account you can go to (http://www.insanejournal.com/manage/emailpost.bml) and set up your email post settings.

Also this had the side affect of releasing everything that had been queued up for several months, including email posts and support requests. You may get some responses that you weren't expecting.

squeaky:  Mon 06-29-2009 9:01: Move Complete
The InsaneJournal server move has been completed. We are fully installed into our new home. Things should work better here, especially during peak hours in the evening (US). This also means that we are ending the sale we started a little over a week ago. Thanks to all of you who contributed and made this move possible.

I know the last part of the move yesterday was painful for a lot of you. I would have preferred to do it during the daytime during the week, but circumstances didn't allow for that. But we are done with 0% data loss, which is exceptional.

We are still working out some kinks with notifications. Seems that the big email providers don't like it when we move IP addresses. Gmail seems to be working, but it appears that AOL and Yahoo are both blocking our email. We hope to have these issues addressed in the next day or two.
